【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusedtodeterminethepropertyofesterfunctionality.Esterfunctionalitydeterminestheutilityofthewaxaswellasbeingasignificantqualitycontroltest.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthesaponificationnumberofsyntheticwaxesandnaturalwaxes.1.2ThistestmethodisapplicabletoFischerTropsche,microcrystalline,polyethylene,andMontanEsterwaxes.1.3Certainsyntheticwaxes,notablycopolymersofethylene,exhibitpoorreproducibilitywhenrunningsaponificationvalues.Reproducibilitycanbeimprovedifcookingtimeinisextendedfrom3hto18-20h.1.4Someoxidizedpolyethyleneandotherwaxeswithamelttemperatureabove100176;Cmaygivepoorreproducibility.1.5Somedark-colored(GardnerColor14)waxesmayobscurethecolorchangeoftheindicator,resultinginpoorreproducibility.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
